Samuel Banks Shapiro, 52, of Great Barrington

He was a devoted and loving father to the three children who are his survivors: a daughter Paige Marie, and two sons, Nicholas Leonard and Mathew William.

Great Barrington — Samuel Banks Shapiro, 52, of Great Barrington, son of Hilda Banks Shapiro of Great Barrington and the late Leonard Shapiro, died at Fairview Hospital on Saturday, December 20.

He was born on August 18, 1962 in Danbury, Conn.

He was predeceased by his wife Jennifer in 2000. He was well known locally as an excellent and exceptional automobile mechanic.

He was a devoted and loving father to the three children who are his survivors: a daughter Paige Marie, and two sons, Nicholas Leonard and Mathew William. He is also survived by his sisters, Serena, Karen, Claudia, Miriam and Stephanie and his brothers, Andre, Mark, Jonathan, Jason and David.  His brother Mitchell predeceased him in 2002.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 26 from 4 to 7:00 p.m. at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 27 at 10 a.m. at The First Congregational Church, 251 Main St., Great Barrington. The family of Anthony E. Menard will receive friends on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 2 p.m., at the funeral home, conducted by Rev. Charles VanAusdall.
