Ryan Ullrich, 25, of Sheffield

Ryan’s relationship to nature was potent and his commitment to living sustainably was an inspiration. He was deeply dedicated to strengthening his community, leading to involvement in several innovative local projects.

Sheffield — Ryan Ullrich, 25, of 204 Hewins St., left this world in the place he loved the most. Born on December 19, 1989. Ryan was the son of Joe and Brenda Ullrich of Sheffield, older brother of Rachel Ullrich and younger brother of Krista Ullrich.

Our world will never be the same without him.
Ryan’s 25 years were magnificent, curious, generous, joyful, compassionate and kind. His adventurous spirit was cultivated early while hunting, fishing and camping with his dad and uncles. In tenth grade, he hiked Vermont’s Long Trail, planting the seed for his lifelong love of travel. After his 2008 graduation from Mount Everett Regional High School, he began his travels, which brought him around the world and home to his beloved Berkshires.

Ryan’s relationship to nature was potent and his commitment to living sustainably was an inspiration. He was deeply dedicated to strengthening his community, leading to involvement in several innovative local projects.

Ryan lived, loved and explored with abandonment. His enthusiasm was contagious, his presence inspirational, and he made unconditional joy and acceptance a practice in every community he touched.

Ryan is survived by his grandparents, Sabina Ullrich of Sheffield, and Bill and Jennie Horsch of Rockland, Mass., his parents Joe and Brenda Ullrich of Sheffield, his sister Rachel Ullrich of Sheffield, his sister Krista Ullrich and Steve Blackwell of West Stockbridge and their children Jacob and Mason, and his loving aunts, uncles and cousins, and countless friends. Ryan was predeceased by his grandfather George Ullrich of Sheffield and his dog, Trigger.

Funeral services for Ryan Ullrich will be held on Friday March 27, at 10 a.m. with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Valley Church on Maple Avenue in Sheffield, with the Rev. Bruce N. Teague, pastor, officiating. Family will receive friends on Thursday March 26, from 4-7 p.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Ryan’s memory may be made to Greenagers in care of the funeral home at 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. Thomas F. ‘Walt’ Palivoda, 72, of Housatonic

Walt’s family will receive friends on Friday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a funeral service officiated by Deacon Ed Shaw at Birches-Roy Funeral Home. A reception will follow at Wyantenuck Country Club. Private burial will be at a later date.
