Ruth Ziegler of Sheffield, Mass., passed away April 5, 2015. She was born in Worcester, Mass., on October 30, 1932, to Wilfred and Ethel (Howe) Cathline. Ruth grew up in Shrewsbury, Mass., with her siblings Edward, Helen, and Roy. Ruth moved to Sheffield in 1962 with her husband Don.
Life on Boardman Street began with operating a dairy farm while raising their family. Before moving to Sheffield, Don and Ruth lived in Lenox where they operated a dairy farm on Undermountain Road.
Ruth is well known for her talent with doll repairs along with building and decorating doll houses. In 1970 she and Don began The Corn Crib and later Dolls & Dwellings in Sheffield. Ruth was a book of knowledge with plants and always willing to share. A former 4-H Leader, a Grange member, an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and member of the Agricultural Committee in Sheffield she was always willing to lend a hand. Ruth was a great story-teller about her childhood to anyone who listened.
Husband Don passed away in 2002. She leaves her children Alan and Meghan, Diane and Pete, Vale, David, Fawn, and June. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Molly, Emily, Gavin, Jamie, Rae-Anne, Dayla and Randon, and great-grandson, Jaden.
