Mrs. Rosemarie Mangold Harrington, age 65, of 128 Holmes Rd., Pittsfield, died Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the Berkshire Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 18, 1952, in Pittsfield, the daughter of the late John and Louise Messina Mangold. Educated in the local schools, she was a 1970 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Continuing her education, she received her associate degree in business administration from Berkshire Community College. Initially employed at the former England Brothers store during her high school years, she then took a position with Berkshire County Savings Bank upon her graduation from BCC. In 1973, she and her late husband, Kevin O. Harrington, founded the former Yankee Plumbing Company at 381 Tyler St., which they proudly owned and operated throughout the Berkshires until his death in 2000.
She became employed with the city of Pittsfield school system shortly thereafter as a paraprofessional at Egremont Elementary School, retiring in 2016 with 15 years of service. In her retirement, she enjoyed supervising the Glass House at Tanglewood. She was readying the shop for the upcoming summer season. A communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Rosie enjoyed tending to her homes, both here and in Dennis Port on Cape Cod. A most compassionate woman, she loved her family first and foremost. Rosie loved to read and always enjoyed the “search for a bargain.” At the end of each school year, she enjoyed walking with her friends throughout the neighborhood. She and her husband of 25 years, Kevin O’ Harrington, were married Oct. 5, 1974.
She is survived by her pride and joy, her two sons, Jacob K. Harrington of Lenox and Jeffrey D. Harrington of Pittsfield; and her sister, Ann-Louise Florczyk, and husband, Edward of Pittsfield.
