Rose Joan Balestro, 98 of West Stockbridge died peacefully on November 21, 2015 at Fairview Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in the family home in West Stockbridge on September 5, 1917, the youngest of nine children of Antonio and Antonia Veronesi Consolini.
Rose attended local schools and graduated from the former Williams High School.
She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church of West Stockbridge and was a member of the Rosary Altar Sodality. Rose enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and playing cards. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years Joseph Balestro who died in February 1997.
Rose leaves a son, Anthony and his wife Suzanne of Great Barrington, Mass., two grandchildren Todd Balestro of Rumson, N.J., and Lauren Salata of Seattle, Wash., and five great grandchildren, Jack, Teddy, and Kate Balestro and Sophia and William Salata.
Along with her husband Joseph, she was also predeceased by four brothers: Julian, Joseph, Anthony and Chester Consoling as well as by four sisters: Mary Burns, Lena Sartori, Elizabeth Vanotti and Corinne Smith.
A funeral Mass will be held at St Patrick’s Church in West Stockbridge on Monday, November 29 at 10 a.m., conducted by Monsignor John Bonzagni. There will be no calling hours.
