Rosalind F. ‘Squeegie’ Haywood, 85, of Lee

A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Rosalind F. Haywood will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church in Lee, celebrated by Monsignor John Bonzagni. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

Rosalind F. “Squeegie” Haywood, 85, of Lee died peacefully at Lee Healthcare on Thursday morning. She was born on February 13, 1938, in Florence, Mass., to the late Lincoln and Clara Frulla Streeter. She attended St. Mary’s School and Lee High School.

Rosalind, along with her daughter Susan, owned and operated Pippin’s Florist. She was employed by The Morgan House, the former Village Inn and Marskandiser’s Florist leaving all these places with lifelong friends.

Rosalind was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Lenox Dale. She enjoyed oil painting and playing bridge with her very close friends, Norma Flynn, Alice Halpin, Gloria Brazee, and Clara Gennari, for many years. Laughter filled the air when they were together. Scrabble was also a favorite and would challenge anyone up to the task at Poor Richard’s in Lenox. She was a former member of the G. Marconi Lodge #1620, Lee Son’s and Daughters of Italy, and the St. Mary’s Adoration Society.

Rosalind loved to travel and enjoyed time spent on York Beach with family. She loved to laugh, especially being silly with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who would always be asking to go see Grandma Rose.

Rosalind married Paul F. Haywood on July 2, 1955 in St. Vincent de Paul Church. He predeceased her on March 6, 2001.

Mrs. Haywood is survived by her children, Paul F. Haywood Jr. (Janice) of Vernon, Conn., Robert H. Haywood (Cathy) of Lee, Anthony M. Haywood of Lee, Lincoln S. Haywood of Lee, Kathleen M. O’Brien of Lenox, Lisa C. Bowers (David) of Lee, and Susan H. Gore (Richard) of Lee; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her sibling John Streeter of Lenox; here sisters-in-law, Janet Streeter, Jane Quimby, and Maggie Soule; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her brothers Lincoln Streeter and Timothy Soule, and her granddaughters Sara M. Bowers and Renee L. Haywood.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Rosalind F. Haywood will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church in Lee, celebrated by Monsignor John Bonzagni. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Mary’s School or St. Vincent de Paul Church, in care of the Roche Funeral Home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01238.
