Ronald J. Sturles, 71, of Pittsfield

with his five children and wife Patricia, Ron moved to the Berkshires in 1995.

Beloved father and grandfather Ronald J. Sturles, 71, of Pittsfield, died Monday, April 18, 2016 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Ronald was born of Alexander Sturles and Irene Janicke Sturles in Brooklyn, N.Y. on August 6, 1944.

Ron, as he liked to be called, married his wife, Patricia A. McGuire, on May 29, 1965 in Brooklyn. Together they raised a family of five children and moved to the Berkshires in 1995. They were married for 45 years when Patricia passed away on April 24, 2011.

Ron is survived by his three daughters Patricia Ottati and her husband, Paul, of Levittown, N.Y.; Carolann Strickling and her husband, Glenn, of Sheffield, Mass. and Rhonda Hover and her husband, Kevin, of Pittsfield; his son, Ronald Sturles, Jr., of Pittsfield; his son-in-law, Frederick McGrane of Ridgewood, N.Y.; grandchildren Kimberly, Kevin, Willie, Kierstan, Joseph, Nicholas, Lena, Freddy, Richard, Patrick, Emily, and Michael; and his great-grandson, Damien. Ron also leaves behind his brother, Thomas Sturles, and his wife Claudia; and his sister, Maryann Stettnisch, and her husband, Bobby. He also leaves his beloved cat, Tasha.

In addition to his wife, Ronald was also predeceased by his daughter, Doreen Sturles, and his sister, Elizabeth Sturles.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 21, from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, Mass.

Thomas F. ‘Walt’ Palivoda, 72, of Housatonic

Walt’s family will receive friends on Friday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a funeral service officiated by Deacon Ed Shaw at Birches-Roy Funeral Home. A reception will follow at Wyantenuck Country Club. Private burial will be at a later date.

Nancy Elma Demarest Dellert, 89, formerly of Ashley Falls

As requested, a private burial service for close family will be held at Ashley Falls Cemetery at a later date.
