Robert W. Burns, 42, of Hillsdale, N.Y.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 29, from 3 to 6 p.m., at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 30, at 10 a.m., at Hillside Cemetery in Egremont.

Robert W. Burns, 42, better known as Rob, died Monday morning April 23, 2024, at his home in Hillsdale, N.Y., after a 15-month battle with cancer. He was born on October 31, 1981 in Great Barrington, where he attended local schools.

Rob was a very active member of his community. He was a member of the Hillsdale Fire Company and was a Copake Rescue board member. He was also a wrestling coach, as well as a mentor. He worked for the Taghkanic Highway Department.

Rob is survived by his son Robert Burns Jr., his brother Ethan Hendrick, his sister Shawna Hamblin, and his girlfriend Maggie McBroom. He was predeceased by his mother Sharon (Gleason) Hamblin and his maternal grandparents, Don and Grace Gleason.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 29, from 3 to 6 p.m., at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 30, at 10 a.m., at Hillside Cemetery, 177 Egremont Plain Rd, Egremont, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hillsdale Fire Department for a scholarship fund in memory of Rob in care of Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main Street, Great Barrington, MA 01230.
