Mr. Robert John “Bob” Zimboski, 89, went to be with our Lord on July 28, 2024, surrounded by his family. Bob was born July 13, 1935, in Great Barrington to Alexander and Winifred.
He joined the military in 1955 and served in both the Navy and the Army for a combined total of six years and is a combat veteran of the Korean War. Although his military service and work as a machinist for Lenox Machine sometimes took him away from home, all roads always led him back to his roots in Berkshire County.

Bob married Edeltraud (Trudy), and the couple spent 51 years in Sheffield together. Bob was known to all as a hardworking, stubborn pillar of the community and a devout Catholic. He was a member of American Legion Post 340 for 60 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Bob is survived by his wife Trudy Zimboski of Sheffield; two children, John [Shelly] Zimboski of Sheffield and Catherine Zimboski of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; his stepson Russell Kenyon of Sheffield; four grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two stepsons, Raymond and Nathan Kenyon; and his grandson Jason Zimboski.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 2, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Birches-Roy Funeral Home, 33 South St. Great Barrington. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Sheffield on Saturday, August 3, at 10 a.m. Following the Mass, Bob will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Saint Peter’s Cemetery, Great Barrington. After the burial, the family will welcome friends at the American Legion Hall in Sheffield.
