He was a graduate of Housatonic Valley Regional High School and had been a member of both the baseball and football teams as well as FFA. Later in his life he was heavily involved in area youth sports and was a coach and umpire in both baseball and basketball leagues. He was a proud Navy veteran and upon return worked for the CT Highway Dept. Bob shined as a well known and beloved member of the community having been a popular on-air personality at WQQQ and later WHDD “Robin Hood Radio” in Sharon and other radio stations in the area. He hosted the “Q Morning Show” and also hosted a Sunday morning “smooth jazz” show and was eventually joined by his wife as co-host. Bob had a great sense of humor and was always up for anything, even dressing up once in a bridal outfit to a basketball game for a stunt at Webatuck High School in Amenia, N.Y. He was also a drag racing enthusiast and competed at Lebanon Valley Speedway and in his free time loved to fish in the local lakes.

Besides his wife and mother, he is also survived by a son, Robert Chatfield Jr, his child from a previous relationship with Nancy Ackerman, his step-children Kathleen O’Hara and Brian O’Hara, sisters Marian Chatfield and Barbara Reynolds and her husband Marq. He also leaves a nephew Jesse Chatfield, a niece J’aime Chatfield and grand nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held Friday, August 12th at 5 p.m. at The Sharon United Methodist Church immediately followed by a reception at the American Legion Hall, 15 New Street, Sharon, Conn. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Sunday In the Country Food Drive, The Last Post in Falls Village, local EMT and First Responders, The Sharon United Methodist Church and to local Youth Sports Organizations.
