Richard J. Cappadona, 75, of Maple Ave., Sheffield, died Tuesday, February 7, at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington. Richard was born on March 17, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Richard J. and Anna Ida (Giovanetti) Cappadona.
He received an associate’s degree from New York University for civil engineering and went on to become a master electrician. Richard worked for over 50 years as an electrician and wiring inspector in Brooklyn and for Cappadona Electric in Berkshire County.
He was a member of the NRA and Western Massachusetts Scuba Diving Association. Richard enjoyed vacations to the islands, his favorite being Hawaii. He enjoyed his monthly trip to the casino and loved to be poolside with his family and friends.
Richard’s wife, Edith (Maynard) Cappadona, whom he married on Dec. 30, 1963, predeceased him on March 31, 2015. Richard is survived by one son, Victor Cappadona of Lanesborough; one daughter, Rose Seward, and her fiance, James Korte, of Ashley Falls; and four adored grandchildren, Brandon Seward, C.J. Seward, Aleya Cappadona and Talia Cappadona. In addition to his wife, Richard was predeceased by his brother, William Cappadona, and daughter Lucie Cappadona.
In keeping with Richard’s wishes, there will be a celebration of life gathering on March 11, 2017, at the Great Barrington VFW from noon to 3 p.m. with a private burial.
