Richard Fairfield, 89, of Lenox

After retirement, Richard and his wife Ginny began looking for warmer climates in the winter spending time in Arizona and Texas. In 2003, they bought their winter home in Leesburg, Florida, where they have spent many happy winters and time on the golf course.

Mr. Richard Fairfield, 89, of Lenox, passed away on August 3, 2022.

Born in Pittsfield, on December 16, 1932, son of the late Howard Fairfield and Mary Ellen Kennedy, he excelled in sports and graduated from Lenox High School in 1951. Richard enlisted in the Navy in June 1951 and was honorably discharged from active duty in June 1955 and served in the Reserves until 1959.

In 1956, he married Virginia Hutchinson and they shared 65 years of happy marriage together.

Richard worked for the Lee Paper Mills for one year and in 1956 went to work for New England Telephone Company and retired 32 years later. He then formed his own company, Tel-Wire, where he worked for another 10 years.

He leaves behind a daughter, Cynthia Dinan (Kevin) of Lenox; a son, Michael (Linda) of Lenox; and four grandchildren, Caitlyn and Courtney Dinan, and Cadence and Anna Litano. He also leaves a sister, Betty Bangs (Fred) of Ashley Falls.

Besides his wife and parents, Richard is pre-deceased by his brother, William, and infant son, Earle.

Per Richard’s wishes, there will be no calling hours and services will be private. Memorial donations in Richard’s memory may be made to the Lenox Ambulance Squad in care of the Roche Funeral Home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240.
