Richard Allen Race Sr., 66, of Great Barrington died Wednesday April 13, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Rick was a kind and soft-spoken man who loved his family, taking care of his yard, tending the garden, and car racing.
Rick was born at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington to Leonard Allen Race and Evelyn Winters Race. He married the love of his life, Lucinda (Cindy Kahlstrom), in June 2012 and they filled their lives with fun and love over the last 12 years of his life.
After a brief illness, Rick passed at home, cared for by his loving wife Cindy with the support of his family.
Rick was predeceased by his father. He is survived by his wife, Cindy, his mother Evelyn Race, his son Ricky (Holly) and three grandchildren, his son Andrew, step-daughters Megan Carlotta (Josh) and Emily Carlotta (James), his sister Donna Delmolino (James), their children Jimmy, Paula Pressley, and Peter (Stephanie), two grandnieces and one grandnephew.

Funeral services for Richard Allen Race Sr. will be held Monday, April 25 at 11 a.m. at Birches-Roy Funeral Home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230, with Reverend Jill Graham officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday, April 25 from 10–11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be made through the Birches-Roy website.
