Rene Wood should return to Sheffield Board of Selectmen

In his letter to the editor, Martin Mitsoff writes, "Rene has the experience -- and excellent regional and state government relationships as well -- to successfully serve the Town again as a member of its Select Board."

To the editor:

We strongly support Rene Wood for election to the Town of Sheffield Select Board. Rene is a citizen who lives and acts with a strong faith in community participation and active democracy. She has time and again proved her willingness, abilities and follow-through to undertake responsibilities in supporting all of Sheffield’s residents and businesses. She has actively participated — and delivered results — in securing grant funding for the Town (for housing rehabilitation and town building improvements), in representing Sheffield in the Rest of River cleanup strategy and implementation, in creating the Town’s community development strategy, in representing our interests and those of neighboring communities with the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission, and in undertaking much-needed zoning bylaw and Town charter reviews, to mention just a few of her community accomplishments.

Not one to say “I’m too busy for this,” or “I don’t have time for that,” Rene is a dedicated and committed doer who readily takes on challenges and devotes her energies to improving the Town. Rene has the experience — and excellent regional and state government relationships as well — to successfully serve the Town again as a member of its Select Board. We will cast our votes for Rene on May 14.

Berkshire Hills Regional School District’s shortcomings

The upcoming push to fund a new high school is focused on building something bigger and better while ignoring the fact that times have changed and that the goals must change as well.

Ms. Hritzuk’s recent Letter to the Editor regarding Stockbridge Town Meeting contains several inaccuracies

Ms. Hritzuk writes, "the meeting seemed designed to derail the citizen's position." I am aware of no reasonable basis for such an accusation.

Feeling disillusioned after attending my first Stockbridge Town Meeting

While I expected debate on Article 17 to be heated, I assumed that transparent and consistently applied rules would govern the meeting. What I observed instead was a concerted effort to put the citizens who submitted the petition at the grossest possible disadvantage.
