Regarding the editing of my letter

In her letter to the editor, Susan Bachelder responds to the editing of her previous letter about a proposed special permit for a new business in her neighborhood.

To the Editor:

Regarding the editing of my letter, Gigi Teeley, Nick Keene’s sister and on record as the manager of the EVI told me in a meeting less than a month ago to discuss the barn that they were considering going to a four-day week for their lodging business because of business that Nick had coming up in NYC. I pointed out at the time that it was leafing season and that was unfortunate, as having partnered in a B&B in Hudson the fall season is especially busy. This was during a meeting when we were trying to work out a way to understand the needs of the neighborhood and their needs. The conversation ended with my saying, essentially, under our by law, whatever you do doesn’t matter so long as we can’t hear it, see it, or smell it. I do not think the Special Permit as presented addressed our concerns.

The Robbie Burns was closed by the owner, Mr. Vincent Murphy, because of repeated complaints from the neighbors and I believe at the request of the town as it was related to me by Mr. Murphy.  If I was not informed of the technicals on the closure, the reasons for it were clear.

Thank you to the Berkshire community for returning Marcy to her family

We are forever thankful. This letter is not enough to thank everyone who cared. We shook hands with volunteers in the woods whose names we never got or remember. Thank you now; you are not forgotten.
