What’s the most compelling thing about this property?

When you think about living well in the country, this is the house to do it in. This is a jewel of a house, in beautiful condition, with just the right combination of original detail and modern upgrades.  The house looks out on beautiful grounds and well-tended gardens, ready for you to unleash your creativity and make it your own.  And the location is wonderful – a cozy private spot that’s convenient to the main road that will take you all over the Berkshires and down to the interesting towns in the northwest corner of Connecticut.

For whom is this house perfect?

This house is perfect for anyone looking for a charming country retreat but we know, from previous owners, that this is a house that children particularly love. A family with young children would be happy here, as would a couple hoping to welcome children and grandchildren.  The little bedroom off the kitchen is particularly appealing to children who might want to sneak to the fridge at night for a secret snack.

What’s are the most fun thing to do within fifteen minutes of this house?

This house has the optimal location for enjoying local attractions both north and south of it.  Nearby Route 7 takes you north to restaurants, quality food shops, theater, music and movies in Sheffield, Great Barrington, Stockbridge and Lenox.  Or it takes you south to the charming Connecticut towns of Salisbury, Lakeville and Sharon. A short drive takes you to Twin Lakes in Salisbury, a 600-acre lake for beautiful swimming and boating.  And almost next door in Ashley Falls is Bartholomew’s Cobble, a National Natural Landmark, for boating, birding and hiking.

If this house could talk, what secret would it tell about its history?

Here’s how you get this house to talk to you: You don’t just walk through.  You take a little time to sit in the living room or, better yet, on the porch, and you will begin to feel the quiet tranquility that makes this house special.  The house will make you part of its history of happy times and restful moments enjoyed by its previous occupants.

wow, these rooms are so small. doesn’t look like you can seat to many in the dining room and the kitchen and bathrooms are small. Would need a lot of work if you wanted to upgrade
