Re-elect Roxanne McCaffrey to Stockbridge Selectboard

In her letter, Christine Rasmussen says McCaffrey has demonstrated the knowledge, leadership, and dedication the town needs.

To the editor:

The time has come to decide who you’ll vote for in Tuesday’s town election in Stockbridge. When looking at the qualities and qualifications of the best-qualified person to lead our town, it is Roxanne McCaffrey for Selectman. Please join me in voting for her. In her first term and as present chair of the board, she has demonstrated the knowledge, leadership, and dedication that our town needs.

With years of business and volunteer experience, Roxanne has the knowledge and qualifications to communicate professionally with our talented town administrator and other elected and appointed staff and volunteers who are critical to making the town run. She has demonstrated she can understand complicated contracts and find and enact solutions to long-term conflicts, such as the bridge contracts and issues at the Bowl.

She demonstrates calm and reasoned thinking and welcomes opportunities to correct distorted misinformation that spreads like wildfire through the town. And because she is a full-time selectman, she’s accessible in the early mornings at Stockbridge Coffee, at numerous meetings during the day and evening, and through mail at the end of the day.

As a longtime property owner, she understands the need to use sound financial management, not kick the can down the road, because we all share town expenses through property taxes.

I urge you to join me in voting for Roxanne, a person who has demonstrated she has the integrity, energy, experience, and compassion to make tough decisions on the future of our town and manage a budget of over 11 million dollars.

Berkshire Hills Regional School District’s shortcomings

The upcoming push to fund a new high school is focused on building something bigger and better while ignoring the fact that times have changed and that the goals must change as well.

Ms. Hritzuk’s recent Letter to the Editor regarding Stockbridge Town Meeting contains several inaccuracies

Ms. Hritzuk writes, "the meeting seemed designed to derail the citizen's position." I am aware of no reasonable basis for such an accusation.

Feeling disillusioned after attending my first Stockbridge Town Meeting

While I expected debate on Article 17 to be heated, I assumed that transparent and consistently applied rules would govern the meeting. What I observed instead was a concerted effort to put the citizens who submitted the petition at the grossest possible disadvantage.
