Re-elect Kate Burke to Great Barrington Selectboard

Kate has used her position to represent those whose voices are not always heard in town government.

To the editor:

I am asking voters to re-elect Kate Burke as a selectboard member in Great Barrington. It is not very often that I endorse a candidate but this year there are three highly qualified candidates and I want to make sure the voters know what a terrific job Kate has done in her first term in office.

She is not afraid to ask the tough questions that are required of a quality selectboard member. Kate has pushed to establish the Trust Policy Committee. The Commission on Disabilities and the Housatonic Task Force. Kate often stands alone with her convictions on things such as cannabis, living wages for town staff, support of establishing trade school education fund, and equity.

Kate has used her position to represent those whose voices are not always heard in town government. Kate has made sure to help represent the working families and those who are struggling to be able to live in our town.

For the past three years I have been very fortunate to serve with Kate on the selectboard. The current board is composed of a group of hard working and thoughtful individuals who want what is best for the town of Great Barrington. We don’t always agree with each other but we always have respectful and thoughtful discourse. Kate has been an important member of that group.

I ask you to re-elect Kate Burke to the selectboard in Great Barrington. She will continue her hard work that will benefit all of us.

It has become evident to me that the person I so strongly supported in her first election has acted in many ways contrary to how I had thought she would.

Vote for Lisa Sauer for Stockbridge Select Board

The difference between the two candidates was apparent at recent Select Board meetings where Lisa has been one of the first to go to the microphone and voice her opinions.

I hope to have a productive and inclusive discussion on the Chapter 61 land at Interlaken Cross Road at the Stockbridge Town Meeting

Despite some challenging moments, it was still an opportunity for all participants to gain a greater understanding of the nuances of the situation and hopefully have that context drive more productive discussion at Town Meeting.
