Re-elect District Attorney Andrea Harrington

DA Andrea Harringon has proven she is up to this vital task.

To the editor:

This is just a partial list of list of the wrongfully convicted from Berkshire County, Massachusetts:

– Barry Jacobson , wrongfully convicted of arson in 1983.

– Bernard Baran, wrongfully convicted of rape in 1985.

– William P. Cascone , wrongfully convicted of arson in 1987.

– Michael O’Laughlin, wrongfully convicted of armed assault with intent to murder, burglary and other charges in 2000.

Lives destroyed, innocent men sent to prison in the name of Justice. All of these prior to the election of District Attorney Andrea Harrington. That was then, this is now.

We’re not going backwards, back to those days before DA Harrington, where our DA’s office convinced local jurors of the guilt of completely innocent individuals. Heck, no. We’re not going back. We are going forward. Forward to where we are now, with a DA we can count on to discern whether the evidence supports a conviction.

DA Andrea Harringon has proven she is up to this vital task. Everything else is utterly trivial. We need to keep Andrea Harrington in office. She is no doubt the best DA we’ve had here in a generation. No need to change. Re-elect DA Andrea Harrington.

Donald Trump’s failed presidency

Trump was elected because people relied on the promises he made, but curbing inflation; lowering the high costs of food, gas, and electricity; improving access to healthcare; and restoring affordability have basically been ignored.

Why should second-home owners in Great Barrington subsidize well-off full-time residents?

Even if they won't be receiving a reduction, primary residents of means would still benefit from a system that levies higher taxes on second-home owners but not on them.

Bard College President Botstein’s continued leadership is no longer tenable

When someone has held power for nearly half a century, it can become easy to confuse longevity with legitimacy, or position with immunity. But tenure is not a substitute for trust.
