Raymond Joseph Choquette, 72, of Great Barrington, Mass., died April 2, 2016 at home from complications of COPD. Ray was born in Great Barrington on April 2, 1944 son of Orell and Theda (Taylor) Choquette.

A 1962 graduate of Mount Everett High School, Ray proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in Santa Domingo and Cuba. He worked for Dudley Race Contractor until enlisting into the Marines. In 1990 he created R&J Contractors and ran his own business until his retirement.
Ray was a past commander of and very active member of the James A. Modolo (VFW) Post #8348 in Great Barrington. He served as a volunteer fireman in North Egremont. He enjoyed serving in the VFW, hunting, fishing, playing league pool, and a good game of poker with his friends.
Ray was predeceased by his wife, Jean N. (Brooks) Choquette, on August 11, 2015.
Ray is survived by his children Kimberly Choquette of California, Joseph Choquette of Colorado, Steven Zink of Massachusetts, Nelson (Robbie) Zink of Connecticut, Laurie (Barry) Basinait of New York, and Kasey (Tony) Percy of Massachusetts; his siblings Annette (John) Ruggiero of Virginia, Donald (Barbara) Choquette of Florida, Stanley (Valerie) Gracyk of North Carolina, Teresa (Randy) Choquette of Florida, and Raymond Choquette of Florida; his grandchildren Cassandra Lane, Steven Zink Jr., Alexis Basinait; and his great-grandchildren Emma and Colin.
A memorial service for Ray Choquette will be held at the James A. Modolo Post on South Main Street, Great Barrington on Saturday, April 9. at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers. expressions of sympathy in Ray’s memory may be made in his name to the James A.
