Putin’s Project 2025 carried out by Trump

Putin’s entire wish list to destroy the West is being carried out by Trump, Moscow’s man in Washington.

To the editor:

Former Florida Republican Congressman David Jolly said it best. Putin’s entire wish list to destroy the West is being carried out by Trump, Moscow’s man in Washington.

The plan:

Gut the entire United States government by firing large numbers of federal workers while dismantling safeguards, including cybersecurity, which gives Russia a path for disseminating false news.

Destroy free world economies by creating an economic war through tariffs.

As U.S. goods go up in price worldwide, hatred of Trump is causing a boycott of our goods, that is if you can find them. In Canada for example, U.S. wines and spirits have been removed from store shelves, so even if you are willing to pay a higher price, there is none to be had, further eroding our economy.

By taking the side of Russia over Ukraine and by not supplying arms and capital, it is only a matter of time before Ukraine falls to Russia.

With Trump isolating us from the world stage and possibly leaving NATO, our stature is in the toilet and NATO will possibly be sapped of the ability to meaningfully engage a U.S.-backed Russia.

To neuter objections to what he is doing, Trump has fired, without cause, a wide swath of inspectors general—those who are tasked with making sure the government follows the rules. This leaves it up to the courts to rein in Trump.

How can it get worse? Trump is already working on rigging the 2026 and 2028 elections.

We need a new statewide approach to affordable housing

Instead of dealing with this in 351 places, I suggest the state treat this as a one-place problem and fund a statewide public housing plan at a number of strategically placed locations with minimal financial obligation from local communities.

Aging in place? Consider the Home Modification Loan Program (HMLP)

HMLP is a state-funded no-interest loan program to provide modifications to those in need of accessibility improvements to their homes.

The current Republican House budget proposal is as poisonous as the 1964 Gulf of Tonkin Resolution

I remember well the passage of the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution by a vote of 533 to two in August 1964.
