Pittsfield — Berkshires Jazz is presenting its second annual Fall Jazz Sprawl, seven days of jazz music events, from Monday, November 6, through Sunday, November 12, culminating in a performance by the Django Festival Allstars at Barrington Stage Co., at 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Yes, the Django in their name means what you hope it means: The Django Festival Allstars are all about the hot gypsy jazz stylings of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. The group plays standard and original 1930s-style jazz convincingly and at outlandish velocities. This is super high energy music played with precision and completely authentic flair.
Preceding the Allstars beginning Monday, November 6, will be the Mary Ann McSweeny Trio; the Tarik Shah Quartet; the Chris Pasin Quartet; Natalia Bernal, Jason Ennis, and Fumi Tomita; Benny Kohn; Howard Paul; and Chantell McFarland at venues throughout the Berkshires.
