PREVIEW: Clarion Concerts presents flutist Anthony Trionfo and pianist Albert Cano Smit at the Stissing Center on Saturday, Nov. 2

Both men have played larger venues than the Stissing Center, but their trajectories are auspicious, so they are artists to keep an eye on.

Pine Plains, N.Y. — When Clarion Concerts engages musicians affiliated with Young Concert Artists (which is often), they make it possible for you and me to see blazing young stars that you might otherwise miss, shooting up right before our eyes. Before long, they move on to venues like Tanglewood and Symphony Hall (e.g., Randall Goosby and Steven Banks). Such is the case (sort of) with flutist Anthony Trionfo and pianist Albert Cano Smit, who will appear in Pine Plains, N.Y., at The Stissing Center for Arts and Culture on Saturday, November 2, at 7 p.m.

In fact, both men have played larger venues than the Stissing Center, but their trajectories are auspicious, so they are artists to keep an eye on.

Currently serving as second flute of ProMusica Chamber Orchestra in Columbus, Ohio, Anthony has toured with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and continues to play in a number of ensembles, often collaborating with the Jupiter Chamber Players and Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra, in addition to performances with the Columbus, Knoxville, Princeton, and Seattle symphonies. Anthony earned his master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the Colburn School Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, studying under former principal flute of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, James Walker.

Born in Geneva, Spanish/Dutch pianist Albert Cano Smit, First Prize winner of the 2019 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, has appeared as soloist with such orchestras the San Diego, Seattle, Montreal, Colorado Music Festival, Las Vegas, Manchester, and Barcelona symphony orchestras.
