Pollyann Smith, 95, of Great Barrington

In keeping with Pollyann’s wishes, services will be private.

Pollyann Smith, 95, of Great Barrington, died on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington. She was born in Great Barrington on March 14, 1928, the daughter of Harold and Aletta (Brassee) Coons.

Pollyann was a graduate of the former Searles High School in the class of 1946. She worked for many years as a secretary at Mass Electric.

Pollyann enjoyed crocheting, holding tag sales, rooting on the Red Sox, vacationing in Myrtle Beach with friends, and following the athletic exploits of her grandsons.

Her husband William P. Smith, whom she married at the South Egremont Congregational Church in 1950, predeceased her on February 10, 2007. Pollyann is survived by her son Terry Smith and his wife Ellie of Great Barrington; two grandsons, Michael Smith and his wife Kimberly of Groveland, Mass. and Daniel Smith and fiancé Lindsay Tillou of Great Barrington; four great-granddaughters, Charlotte, Rachel, Giovanna, and Olivia; three nephews; and one niece. In addition to her husband William P. Smith, Pollyann was predeceased by two brothers, Philip and Francis, and her two sisters, Gloria and Martha.

In keeping with Pollyann’s wishes, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Pollyann’s memory may be made to the Friends of Moe in care of the Birches-Roy Funeral Home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. Condolences may be made through the funeral home’s website.

Funeral Mass for Robert F. "Bob" Keefner will be held on Friday, May 23, at 10 a.m., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Saint Peter’s Church in Great Barrington with Reverend William P. Murphy Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
