Police pursue thieves who stole flags at ‘GB Hedge’

The flags were placed at the park to commemorate the July 4 holiday.

Great Barrington — Police are investigating the theft of approximately 100 American flags from the town park at the intersection of State Road and Main Street, Great Barrington police Chief Bill Walsh has confirmed.

The town Department of Public Works reported the theft on July 15. The flags were placed at the park to commemorate the July 4 holiday. The park is home to the so-called “GB Hedge,” so named for the evergreen bushes that spell out the letters at the beginning of Main Street next to Domaney’s Liquors and across the street from the Brown Bridge.

Police are asking anyone with information on the theft to contact them at (413) 528-0307.
