POEM: The reading of the deed

Don’t just stand there staring when water’s seeping in under the kitchen door

Here, then, your inheritance:

a busted planet   sea level

rising  temperature too

making things rough for you

admittedly, but don’t blame us!

and forecasters resisted

weather happens – but to assign

cause would break a network rule

But hey! Don’t just stand there

staring when water’s seeping in

under the kitchen door and

already halfway across the floor

Get a move on before it’s too late

to run down to the hardware store

to ask Jack if he’s got a thermostat

that will change the weather
