POEM: Going Forward

All new years are celebrated for their promise of fulfillment and peace.

The muscular white arms
of the Sycamore reach skyward
just as our thoughts and hopes
rise beyond the sour taste
of these last twelve months of chaos.

As the tree comes to life
in the spring with new growth
we too are enriched as we focus
on the next twelve months
sprouting new life into our souls.

All new years are celebrated
for their promise of fulfillment and peace.
This one is more potent than most —
needing a spectacular change
to overshadow its haunting past.

So…a toast to the beautiful Sycamore reaching for the stars
and for all seekers of compassion, wisdom and love
as we walk through the door of this happy new year!

THEATER REVIEW: ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’ plays at the Majestic Theater in West Springfield through Feb. 15

What the company does here is create a world of uber-reality by stepping in and out of their roles to present themselves in a play intended to pry laughter out of a melodramatic situation. The level of success at the Majestic is as good as it gets... anywhere. The show is most enjoyable.
