Please do not bring national anti-Democrat divisiveness to Stockbridge

Just because local Stockbridge Democratic Committee members may have some issues that are not shared by the incumbent Select Board member does not mean that we are radical left-wing Democrats.

To the editor:

Thomas R. Manisero’s Letter to the Editor titled “Has the Stockbridge Democratic Committee lost its way?” requires a response.

First, Mr. Manisero did not mention that he is the partner of the Select Board incumbent. And yes, she was prepared on the issues but, as she noted, it took years of learning. This is what every new member of a town committee must go through.

Second, Mr. Manisero is way out of line in comparing our local Democratic Committee to the extreme left wing of the Democratic Party. I too read Dalton Declan’s column. However, just because local committee members may have some issues that are not shared by the incumbent does not mean that we are radical left-wing Democrats.

The caucus, open to all town Democrats, was conducted openly and fairly with over 30 attendees each having ample opportunity to voice their opinions and concerns. The incumbent did not win the caucus endorsement, but that does not mean she will not win the election.

Please do not bring national anti-Democrat divisiveness to Stockbridge.

Treasurer of the Stockbridge Democratic Town Committee
