Pittsfield — Resident Solomon Jones III, 32, is being held in jail on multiple charges stemming from an incident on Sunday, Jan. 12.
According to a press release issued by Pittsfield Police Department Captain Matthew Hill, on January 12 at around 7:38 p.m., officers were dispatched to a multi-unit housing complex on 10 Francis Ave.
The officers encountered two people with facial injuries, and they reported that an altercation had previously occurred in the parking lot with Jones who left the scene and fled into a nearby apartment.
According to Captain Hill, Jones allegedly had pulled a handgun on the victims, made threats, and struck both victims in the head with the handgun.
Jones also allegedly kicked one of the victims while they were on the ground.
Officers found Jones inside an apartment in the building and ordered him out.
Jones refused to comply with the officers on the scene, and after a standoff, officers entered the apartment and arrested him.
A firearm was recovered by officers from inside the apartment and was seized as evidence.
The two victims were transported to Berkshire Medical Center where they received treatment for their injuries.
Jones has been charged with the following:
- Two counts of Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon: a handgun;
- Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon: a shod foot;
- Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon: a handgun;
- Threat to Commit Crime: murder;
- Carrying a Firearm without License;
- Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card;
- Improper Storage of a Firearm.
According to the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office, Jones is being held for 120 days on dangerousness.
Additionally, Jones had his bail revoked for 90 days on outstanding charges from two pending cases.
The charges on the two pending cases include:
- Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, two handgun charges, one shod foot;
- Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, a handgun;
- Carrying a Firearm without a License;
- Ammunition without and FID;
- Improper Storage of a Firearm.
