Pittsfield — Resident Alan Ramos was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 10 for drug trafficking charges. According to a press release issued by District Attorney Timothy J. Shugrue, a search warrant was executed on that date at Ramos’ residence at 29 Alden Ave. by both Pittsfield and State Police. Both departments seized 90 grams of methamphetamine, 45 grams of heroin, and 30 grams of cocaine amounting to approximately $31,500 street value of illegal narcotics and over $6,000 in cash at the residence.
During Ramos’ arraignment, Shugrue was granted his request to have Ramos’ bail set at $100,000. Shugrue said that the amount of bail was requested due to a history of Ramos providing three different addresses to the court since November in regards to pending domestic assault charges on a minor and also being a potential flight risk. While he lives in the United States, Ramos legally holds citizenship in the Dominican Republic.
In addition, Ramos’ previous bail on four domestic assault charges was revoked, and he was held without the right to bail for 90 days.
In the press release, Shugrue is quoted as saying “I’ve never in 36 years seen this amount of meth, not only in Berkshire County, but in Western Massachusetts.”
If convicted, Ramos faces three and a half to 20 years in state prison on the drug trafficking related charges. Ramos additionally has a current open case for domestic assault.
