Pittsfield — The city’s Police Department arrested a resident involved in a home invasion incident on Sunday, July 23.
According to a press release issued by Pittsfield Police Department Lieutenant John Soules, on July 23 at around 7 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Tyler Street for a report of a man holding a woman hostage at gunpoint.
“The ensuing investigation revealed that a man had broken into the home and threatened a resident with a large knife,” Lt. Soules wrote in the press release. “Shortly after officers’ arrival, they observed a suspect fleeing from the home and quickly took him into custody.”
The man was identified as Jada Lopez, 21, of Pittsfield.
Lt. Soules wrote that evidence of the crime was located around Lopez, who has been charged with one count of home invasion, with additional charges pending.
“This was not believed to have been a random act, and as such there is no immediate threat to the public,” Lt. Soules added.
