Berkshire County — Pittsfield resident K’Aunte Carnute, 23, along with a juvenile who has not been identified by the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office, have both been arrested in connection with a home invasion in Lee.
According to a press release written by the District Attorney’s Office in conjunction with the Lee Police Department, on Tuesday, June 25 at around 4 p.m., members of the department responded to a residence along Main Street for a reported home invasion and armed robbery, which was reported via an emergency 911 call.
The suspects left the residence before the arrival of the officers, and an early investigation suggested that there was more than one person involved in the armed robbery. Evidence from the subsequent investigation showed that the perpetrators appeared to have been looking for specific items and that one of the perpetrators and the victim were known to each other. No one was hurt in the incident, which is not considered to be random.
Carnute, along with the juvenile suspect, were arrested on June 26 and June 27 in Pittsfield by the Pittsfield Police Department. Carnute has been charged with three separate counts of Home Invasion, Armed Robbery with a Firearm, and Witness Intimidation.He was arraigned in Central Berkshire District Court for a probation violation stemming from his May 6 convictions of Assault and Battery, Assault and Battery on a Family or Household Member, and Possession of a Class D Substance.
Carnute will be arraigned for those charges in Southern Berkshire District Court on Monday, July 1. He is currently being held without the right to bail in the Berkshire House of Corrections. The incident is still under active investigation.
