Pittsfield Police Department searching for suspect involved in shooting incident – story updated, suspect now in custody

A suspect in the shooting fled the area after the shooting.

Update Thursday, July 24 10:45 a.m.: According to a post on the Pittsfield Police Department’s Facebook page, a suspect is in custody and is scheduled to be arraigned today in Central Berkshire District Court. The suspect has not been named by the department. Original story below:

Pittsfield — The Police Department is searching for a suspect in a shooting that took place on Tuesday, July 22 at 8:57 p.m.

According to a press release by Police Department Lieutenant John Mazzeo, the department received a ShotSpotter activation at that time in the area of 63 Dalton Avenue.

The department also received multiple reports of a person who was shot.

When officers arrived to the scene, they discovered an individual, who has not been identified by the department, with a single non life threatening gun wound.

The victim was subsequently treated and released from the Berkshire Medical Center.

The suspect in the shooting fled the area after the shooting.

The department is seeking information from anyone willing to provide  information.
