To the editor:
I have had an inkling for some time now that there is a distinct possibility that Trump might very well implode this time around. In the long run, it is inevitable, of course, but it may very well become a reality quite soon. And as expressed in a recent New York Times interview, Secretary Buttigieg senses the same. I urge everyone to listen to the interview.
Pete Buttigieg is a singular, special sort of creature. I am constantly impressed by his ability to muster a clarity that seems, for the most part, to elude the rest of us. He literally never takes offense, but rather chooses to deal openly and honestly with anything and everything that comes before him, no matter how offensive a given remark or notion might be construed. He deals with the issue deftly in such a way as to disarm all parties from taking offense and, in the process, opens a door to a rational path forward—one of clarity and infectious understanding—to a place of relative peace. He seems to have an extremely rare quality that my more enlightened elders referred to as “The Knack.”
It challenges us to imagine how dramatically this world might change were more of our leaders to have that ”Knack.”
