After high school, Paul enlisted in the United States Navy. He served active duty from 1960 to 1964, first at the Pacific Reserve Fleet in San Diego, then aboard the destroyer Allen M. Sumner as an IC3 Electrician. During this time, his ship took part in the naval blockade during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He then served in the Navy Reserves from 1964 to 1966, when he was honorably discharged.

Paul married Meryl A. Klitsch on April 23, 1966, in St. Ann’s Church in Lenox. They spent nearly 58 loving years together. They settled and raised their children in Lenox Dale.

Paul worked for a brief period as a winder helper at the former Schweitzer paper mills in Lee. He then worked for Verizon as a Central Office Technician for 30 years, until his retirement in 1995. He was a communicant of St. Ann and St. Vincent de Paul Church. Paul had a lifelong love of trains; he was an original member of the Berkshire Scenic Railway and of the Berkshire Model Railroad Club and was a member of the Conklin-Lane-Coakley VFW Post 12079 of Lenox. He cherished his time with family and friends.

Besides his wife Meryl of Lenox Dale, Paul is survived by his children, Thomas G. Delasco (Shannon) of Lenox and Paul C. Delasco (Lisa) of Lenox; five grandchildren; Kaitlin, Jennifer, Jacob, Shaun, and Aiden; and three great-grandchildren, Carson, Briella, and Autumn.

The family would like to thank Paul’s Home Instead caregivers, Shirley, Kellie, Lisa, and Chris, for their devoted care, which enabled him to stay at home until the last 10 days of his life, as well as the staff at Mt. Carmel Care Center and HospiceCare in the Berkshires.
