Paul J. Hazzard, born February 20, 1969, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, March 15, 2024. Paul’s family is heartbroken for this unimaginable loss. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew him. Paul will be remembered for his boisterous laughter and easy-going nature.
As a young boy, Paul played both baseball and football. Football, baseball, and hockey were his passions, and he was a die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Yankees, and the Boston Bruins.

Paul was a 1987 graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High. Shortly after high school, Paul enlisted in the Navy for six years, serving on the USS Mt. Whitney. As a Gulf War veteran, Paul enjoyed sharing many stories from his travels around the world and was proud to serve his country. He especially looked forward to a phone call he received every November 11 from his cousin Justin, who would thank him for his service to the country. After serving in the Navy, Paul relocated to Kansas City, Mo. Paul lived in Kansas City until moving back to the Berkshires in the late nineties.
Paul is survived by his mother Karen Beckwith; his many aunts, Susan Santora, Patricia Griffin, Mary Beth Shea, Ellen Rice and husband Jeff, and Katie Griffin (Roger Harding); and several uncles, Tim Griffin and Richard (Claire) Hazzard. Paul also leaves his cousins, Daniel Griffin, Ian Shea, Justin and Shannon Rice, and Michelle (Hazzard) Artioli. Paul is predeceased by his father Robert Hazzard; his grandparents, Joseph and Helen Hazzard and John and Mary Griffin; and two uncles, Joseph Santora and Peter Griffin.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held in St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Housatonic on April 5, 2024, at 12:30 p.m., with Reverend William P. Murphy officiating. Condolences can be made through the website of Birches-Roy Funeral Home.
