Patricia Lester, 61, of Becket

A lover of animals, Patricia was particularly fond of cats, who brought her great comfort and happiness.

Patricia D. Lester, 61, of Becket passed away Sunday, Dec. 3, at Berkshire Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.

Patricia was born Jan. 31, 1956, in Bronxville, New York, the daughter of the late R. Wesley and Charlotte Felton Lester. Ms. Lester received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Westfield State University and worked for many years as a social worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She was a gifted writer with a quick wit and great sense of humor. A lover of animals, Patricia was particularly fond of cats, who brought her great comfort and happiness.

Ms. Lester leaves behind her son, David Silakowski of Becket; her sister, Caroline Carretto of Corsicana, Texas; and her many friends and supporters.

In keeping with Patricia’s wishes, a graveside service will be held Friday, Dec. 8, at 1 p.m. at Fairmount Cemetery in Lee. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Berkshire Humane Society or the Shriner’s Hospital in care of Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. To leave a message of condolence or share pictures, visit www.kellyfuneralhome.net.
