Orville B. Brazie, 90, of Park Street in Housatonic passed away on August 16, 2015 at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington.
Born in Southfield, Mass., on October 21, 1924, he was the son of Benjamin and Lilian Smith Brazie. He attended local schools.
Orville had an amazing work ethic and was a “Jack of all Trades.” He worked wherever his services were needed. Most recently he was a Sexton at the First Congregational Church in Great Barrington, from which he retired at 88 years old. Over the years he worked on numerous area estates, was a member of the Great Barrington highway and police departments, and worked at the former Willowood Nursing Home.
In his free time he enjoyed woodworking and tending his flower gardens. For many years Orville bowled at the Cove Bowling Lanes in Great Barrington.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann Murray Brazie, and three sons, Donald and his wife Maureen, Peter and his wife Debbie, and Thomas Brazie. He also leaves six grandchildren, Donald, Tara, Kristen, Neil, Nathan and Rosemary; eight great-grandchildren, Little Orville, Maci, Lila, MacKenzie, Sydni, Isabella, Benjamin and Sophie; and his two sisters, Louise Brazie and Genevieve Dumas.
He was predeceased by six brothers, Francis, Richard, Gerald, Burt, Ronnie and Henry and two sisters, Delores and Jeanette.
A service celebrating the life of the late Orville B. Brazie will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 1 p.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, conducted by Rev. Charles VanAusdall. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Great Barrington.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until the time of the service.
