Olga Carlson, 100, of Sheffield

Olga had been a resident of Sheffield for the past 10 years, during which time she attended Christ Church Episcopal and Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheffield.

Olga Marjorie Esther Carlson, 100, a longtime resident of Hewins Street in Sheffield, died Friday, July 1, 2016.

Born on August 23, 1915 in Boston, she was the daughter of Gustave and Ester Forsen Carlson. She was a 1937 graduate of Perry Normal School and a 1939 graduate of Boston University where she received her B.S. in education. Mrs. Carlson worked as teacher in the Medfield School System until her retirement in 1979. She was a past president of the women’s church group in Attleboro, Mass., where she was also a dedicated Sunday school teacher. She was a Girl Scout leader, a member of Club Seventy-Seven, and served on several regional councils.

Olga had been a resident of Sheffield for the past 10 years, during which time she attended Christ Church Episcopal and Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheffield.

She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Esther Carlson, and husband, William Fraser Donaldson, of Sheffield; her son, Theodore E. Carlson, and wife, Victoria Purdy Carlson, of Uxbridge, Mass.; her grandchildren Jessie Carlson and husband Eric Frederick, Leisl Carlson and husband Steven Butler, Eric Carlson, Stefan Carlson, and Nathaniel Carlson; as well as her great-grandson, Quinn Butler Carlson. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Hugo Carlson, on January 6, 2013. The couple was married on March 1, 1942 at Our Savior Church in Dorchester, Mass.

A service celebrating the life of the late Olga Carlson will be held on Friday, July 8, at 10 a.m. at Christ Church Episcopal and Trinity Lutheran Church, 180 Main St., Sheffield, conducted by Rev. Anne Ryder, pastor. Burial will be at a later date at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Brookline, Mass. There will be no calling hours.
