North Adams resident sentenced in Williamstown armed robbery

The armed robbery took place in November 2023 at a Cumberland Farms store in Williamstown.

Berkshire County — Joshua Piantoni, 42, has been sentenced to seven years in state prison for his role in an armed robbery that took place in 2023.

According to Julia Sabourin, chief of operations for the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office, on the morning of November 27, 2023, Piantoni drove to the Cumberland Farms store on Route 2 in Williamstown. Upon entering the store, Piantoni pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money. The clerk handed $259 to Piantoni, who fled back to his home in North Adams. However, law enforcement intercepted Piantoni while he was traveling home.

After a search uncovered the stolen money and a BB gun used in the robbery, Police arrested Piantoni.

Piantoni pleaded guilty to various charges, including armed robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon.

He was sentenced by Hon. Judge John Agostini from four to seven years in state prison.
