Nick Diller weather summary: September 2019 drier than average

As far as temperatures went, this September was slightly above average.

Great Barrington — September featured near-average temperatures and was a much drier-than-average month in Great Barrington, the fifth straight month. Precipitation for September was 2.48”, an inch and a half below the 54-year-old figure of 4.04”. This was 16th driest September.

But it was dry in many locations of the Northeast. Albany was nearly 2 inches below normal, Hartford nearly 3.

Our running total for the year is now 31.11”. Compare that with the drought year of 2016, which showed just over 26” at the end of September. In contrast, 2018 had a running total at the end of September of 46”.

As far as temperatures went, this September was slightly above average; the mean temp was just half a degree above average.

October is starting on the wet side.

We can use rain. Have a good month.
