Nick Diller weather summary: July, 2021 was wet

The month turned out to be the second wettest July in my 57 years of weather keeping.

Great Barrington — July 2021, WET!! 10.87 inches wet. Which is why I’m on a ladder cleaning the weather system out. The month turned out to be the second wettest July in my 57 years of weather keeping. Only 2014 with 11.79 inches was greater. Our average rainfall for July is  4.6 inches The running total for the year is now 10 inches ahead of last year.

The clouds and rain kept the temperatures down as well. Eighteen of the 31 days were below the average high temps, but thanks to those clouds, the low readings were 3 degrees higher. But the humidity was very high with 60 and 70 degree dew points.

An interesting note: Our July 2014 wet record was followed by one of the driest August’s.

Maybe this will happen again. We can only hope.

Have a good month.
