Nick Diller weather summary: February 2018 wet and very warm

Twenty-two of the 28 days came in above average, producing seven days of 50 or above temps and three of those hit 60, including two record highs.

“Wet and very warm” is not the usual way we describe February’s weather, but it may be from now on.

For the second straight year, warmer-than-normal winter has been the rule.

This February finished in a tie for third place with last year’s February. Each had a mean temperature of 33.5, and that is eight degrees warmer than now-53-year average.

Twenty-two of the 28 days came in above average, producing seven days of 50 or above temps and three of those hit 60, including two record highs. Conversely, only eight of the 28 were at or below the average low.

Believe it or not, we actually totaled just over 14 inches of snow, which is about average for the month. Nearly all had a high water content. The total rain and melted snow was about an inch above average.

Wouldn’t you know it, now that March is here, temperatures turn cooler and snow is in the forcast. I hope you haven’t put the snow shovels away yet.
