News and Ideas Worth Sharing

Nick Diller : March 2025 weather — 5 degrees warmer than average

Twenty-one days were above this century’s average, and the nighttime lows saw 22 above.
Great Barrington — A giant Allium is growing near my front door. It started coming up in February and then with the warmer temperatures and longer days of March, the plants growth rate increased. And look at them on the last day of the month, very healthy looking.
With so many days warmer than the 21st century average, it’s no wonder the plants are looking so good. Twenty-one days were above this century’s average, and the nighttime lows saw 22 above which gave the month a mean of about 5 degrees above average as my accompanied chart shows.
And precipitation was mostly rain for the month. With three and a half inches recorded, less than a tenth came from melted snow which totaled less than two inches in only a few showers or flurries.
Amazing, considering much more snow was observed in central and northern Berkshire county.
And now we will get those April showers. Half an inch this week and more to come. I guess I can put the snow blower away.
Have a nice April.

"[W]hat I want to tell people is, 'We want our lawns and our home landscaping to be alive. We want ladybugs, we want butterflies. We want earthworms. We want birds. You want to step out of your back door and not worry that you're exposing yourself to carcinogens,'" said NatureWorks owner Rich Lassor.
