Nick Diller: March 2021 weather presages early spring

This March was much warmer than average.

Spring has sprung. March is done. Sort of rhymes.

Some seeds are started. In this case peppers and parsley. Ron Kujawski , thanks for the advice. And the spring birds have arrived back at my feeders, and as the photo shows a red-tailed hawk awaits.

Spring arrived a little earlier this year. This March was much warmer than average with 9 days above 60 that included 3 days of 70 plus days making the month 4 degrees above average. And making this March the seventh warmest since my record keeping began in January 1965.

Coupled with the warm weather was dryness. Only 7 of the 31 days had measurable precipitation and most of that toward the end of the month.  This March came in the 14th driest and 4th least snowiest. It was a nice month as March goes. Wouldn’t it be nice if April was nice as well?  Let’s hope so.
