NICK DILLER: A hot August 28

A high temperature of 92 at 3:24 p.m. coupled with a dew point of 78 brought the heat index to 104.5.

What a hot day! This Aug. 28 has turned out to be the hottest day this century for my weather station in Great Barrington.

A high temperature of 92 at 3:24 p.m. (actually 91.6, which is rounded off to the nearest whole number) coupled with a dew point of 78 brought the heat index to 104.5. But it’s only been in the last few years that dew points have been calculated

Was the Aug. 28 reading a record high? NO! Check out the heat wave of 1998 below:

24-Aug-98 90 64 FAIR
