News Briefs: Downtown construction update; annual town meeting childcare

Participating parents should sign in near the check-in table at the meeting entrance; a student will escort children to the preschool room in the building.

Downtown construction update for the week of Monday, May 6

Great Barrington — During the week of Monday, May 6, contractors will begin excavation of the sidewalk on the north side of Railroad Street. Access to businesses will be maintained at all times during construction. Work will be also continue pouring new sidewalks and installing curbs on Bridge, Elm, Church and School streets. Work hours will be from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The streets should remain open to traffic, with police officers directing traffic when necessary. Parking might be affected in the areas under construction during work hours.

Childcare to be available at Great Barrington annual town meeting

Great Barrington — Child care will be provided from 5:45 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 6, at the annual town meeting at Monument Mountain Regional High School.

Participating parents should sign in near the check-in table at the meeting entrance; a student will escort children to the preschool room in the building.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and is open to all Great Barrington residents who are registered voters.
