Great Barrington seeks three volunteers to serve on Regional District Planning Committee

Great Barrington — Town moderator Michael Wise is looking for town residents who would like to serve on a three-member Regional District Planning Committee.

Great Barrington’s committee members will join with similar committees in other towns to form a Regional District Planning Board. This board will study and make recommendations to member towns regarding consolidation options for schools in the Southern Berkshire region.

The Regional District Planning Committee is set up under Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 71, Section 14, which designates the town moderator as the appointing authority. This law also requires that at least one member of the committee be a member of the school committee.

Interested volunteers are asked to contact Michael Wise at (413) 528-9202 or michaelwise@earthlink.net.
