Rhodes announces support of Kingston City Council members

Kingston, N.Y. — Gareth Rhodes, NY-19 Democratic Congressional candidate, has announced the endorsements of two members of the Kingston City Council.

Bill Carey, Ward 5 alderman and former majority leader of the City Council, and Jeffrey Morell, Ward 1 alderman, are supporting Rhodes’ campaign. Rhodes, who was born in Kingston, is running for the NY-19 seat currently held by Rep. John Faso, R-Kinderhook. The endorsements were first reported by State of Politics.

The announcement is the latest of a series of endorsements from Democratic leaders and elected officials in support Rhodes’ Congressional campaign. Rhodes’ supporters include Ulster County Legislature Minority Leader Hector Rodriguez, Ulster County legislator Laura Petit, Kingston Democratic Committee Chair Joe Donaldson, and Town of Brunswick Democratic Committee Chair Kathy Betzinger. The endorsements highlight the success of Rhodes’ 163-town approach, traveling throughout NY-19 on a “Rhodes Trip.”

Rhodes, who is running to ‘repeal and replace John Faso,’ is a former water well driller, volunteer firefighter and aide to Gov. Andrew Cuomo. He was born and raised in Ulster County and currently lives in Kerhonkson. Roll Call recently rated Faso the third most vulnerable House GOP member in the nation “if Democrats nominate a candidate with district roots” in NY-19.
