Impeachment rally Tuesday in Park Square

Pittsfield — Berkshire County residents will gather Tuesday, Dec. 17, the night before the U.S. House of Representatives is likely to vote to impeach Donald Trump for his high crimes and misdemeanors, to rally in support of impeachment. The rally will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Park Square and is locally sponsored by the Berkshire Democratic Brigades, Greylock Together, Indivisible Pittsfield and Progressive Democrats of Massachusetts.

The event is one of over 500 impeachment rallies that will be held across America in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. on Tuesday. Over 200 local residents have already RSVPed for the event online, with another 90 on Facebook.

Sheila Irvin, chair of the Berkshire Democratic Brigades, encouraged everyone who supports impeachment to attend, noting: “It’s essential that Congress and the world knows that the American people are standing up for democracy and against corruption. No one is above the law, and everyone who wants to help send that message, loud and clear, is invited to join us Tuesday at Park Square.”

The mobilization is part of a massive, grassroots effort to ensure Congress holds Donald Trump accountable for using military aid to pressure Ukraine to interfere in the 2020 election. Protestors will demand that the House of Representatives fulfill its constitutional duty by impeaching Donald Trump and that the Senate remove him from office for attempting to rig the 2020 elections.

Attendees are encouraged to dress warmly and bring flashlights, candles or signs if they wish. Pittsfield prohibits attaching signs to posts, so handheld signs are encouraged.
